Occupy (Series)

Part Seven

Communicate

By Rogers Wanambwa

As I write this, I am snuggled in bed and it is raining cats and dogs outside.

It hasn’t rained here in over two months, I heard the neighbours complain two days ago. I hope this bout of incredibly thunderous rain is enough to appease them for another

month or so!
Honestly, I am not a fan of rain. Besides, we need it for our survival as it helps our plants grow so yeah, there we have it.

Yet according to the neighbours, it should rain weekly, at the very least. I find this preposterous and thankfully, this is not the case here. There are seasons.

See what I did there? I looped you in and you are diligently following, wondering where I’m going with this, right?

Communication is a very important tool in our daily lives and those that are able to relay their thoughts and beliefs perfectly capture their audience’s hearts and can lead them wherever they want to.

Yes, you and I both have been led by others all our lives.

Everything you know and believe to be true has been outrightly or subtly fed to your mind and subconscious mind.

Tales of all sorts are weaved by masters of communication and before you know it, they are the standard of accepted truth.

For example, you can never know whether the story I began with is true or not and will just take my word for it.

Interestingly, you don’t need to believe me right away for it to work. I can always subtly and as I mentioned earlier, outrightly communicate to you in different forms about what I want you to believe.

Visuals, audio, even sensory experiences can all be used as forms of communication. Learning which ones appeal to your audience most and using them to communicate your point across is the order of the day.

Apple, for example, does not need to tell you that their iPhones are the best. Videos and even graphics (pictures) depicting the quality of their phones in crisp clear videos that are otherwise understated but for the phone itself which they want your focus on doing the trick.

Holding the iPhone in your hands brings a feeling of class. The material used is designed to communicate to the holder that “this is the best there is.”

The rest is left to word of mouth. This has proven to be the best communication tool there is.

I’m sure you have bought quite a number of things just by hearing “how good they were” from a familiar person. Sometimes even a stranger!

Whether it met the hype or not, is another story.😊

But what do you learn from all this as a person on a quest to occupy and dominate your tuff?

That you will have to hone and sharpen your communication skills. That sometimes you will have to get others to communicate for you (your brand, service, or product).

But all in all, this is something very vital to your journey to the top.

Because, even at the top, you will still need to retain loyalty from those already following you and even gain the trust of others to join you.

Mhmm, do you agree? Tell me what you think?
